Why offer Sensible Weather?

The weather is often one of the biggest unknowns when guests book a UK holiday.

Sensible Weather helps remove some of that uncertainty by allowing guests to purchase weather protection as part of their booking journey. Sensible Weather then reimburses guests for bad weather during their holiday.

How does it work?

When a guest makes a booking, they will have the opportunity to purchase a weather guarantee alongside their stay.

The guarantee is provided and managed by Sensible Weather, with quotations generated automatically based on the dates and location of the accommodation being booked.

Prior to any bad weather occurring, Sensible Weather tracks the forecast and send a text message to the guest to initiate reimbursement if it happens.

Multiple, convenient options are available for guests to immediately collect their payout from Sensible Weather.

Guests can enjoy their day with you knowing that they didn't have to pay for bad weather.

IN-TRIP COVERAGE

Guests still get to go on their holiday AND get reimbursed for bad weather forecasted while they are in-destination.

NO CLAIMS, NO HASSLE

The reimbursement process is initiated automatically without a claims process or proof of loss required.

NO CANCELLATIONS NEEDED

Guests can still choose to enjoy their day with you, even if they are 100% reimbursed by Sensible Weather - no cancellations are required.

Setting up Sensible Weather

Important: this is an OPT OUT product.

From X DATE it will be live and automatically available in your account and to your guests during the booking and checkout journey.

Guests will automatically be given the option to purchase weather protection alongside their booking, helping to increase booking confidence while creating an additional commission opportunity for your business.

If you do not wish to offer Sensible Weather to your guests, you can disable the integration at any time by navigating to Config > Service Integrations > Sensible Weather and switching the feature off.

To enable quotations, your accommodation location must be configured correctly within Anytime Booking.

Each parent unit must have either:

  • A valid postcode, or
  • Latitude and longitude coordinates

This allows Sensible Weather to accurately calculate and generate guarantee quotations. If these are not present against a unit in your account, the option for Sensible Weather will not show. 

What happens if a booking changes?

If a booking is amended after a quotation has been generated, smaller changes will not require any action and no changes to the Weather Guarantee will be made. This commonly includes: post-booking add-ons like additional firewood, customer detail updates like contact information, any price changes +- 10% of the original cost. 

However, if there is a significant change to the booking value or stay details, the Weather Guarantee will be cancelled and refunded. Sensible Weather's customer support team will be able to assist with providing the guest a new quote via email if the customer would like to add coverage back onto their holiday. Large changes include: date changes, large changes in price, more than +-10% of the original cost, changing locations more than 10km.

What happens if a booking is cancelled?

If a guest cancels their booking, Sensible Weather will contact them directly regarding their weather guarantee.

Any questions or discussions about the guarantee will be managed between Sensible Weather and the guest, removing additional administration for your team.

If the guest makes a new booking and would like weather protection again, Sensible Weather can arrange a new guarantee directly with them where applicable.

Commission and billing

Your business will receive 10% commission on every guarantee sold.

Each month, Anytime Booking will raise an invoice for the remaining premium amount, which is then reconciled and passed on to Sensible Weather.

Invoices are generated on the first day of the following month and are payable within 14 days.

Tracking your Sensible Weather sales

You can easily monitor Sensible Weather sales using your existing reporting within Anytime Booking.

Simply run your usual reports, such as the Bookings Report, and include Custom Extras within the report criteria to see any Sensible Weather guarantees that have been purchased.

This gives you visibility of:

  • How many guests are purchasing weather protection

  • The additional revenue being generated

  • The overall uptake of Sensible Weather across your bookings

Because Sensible Weather is integrated into your existing reporting, there's no need to use a separate system to monitor performance.
