Key differences and improvements
Beyond full customisation to match your brand, the updated checkout process includes the following stand-out enhancements:
- Accordion design
The checkout has an accordion design so guests can easily see their progress through the booking stages. - Property thumbnails
An image of your property, pod or pitch now displays in the booking summary on the right-hand side, leading to increased booking confidence and conversion. - New booking calendar
The new booking calendar in the checkout will allow guests to select their arrival and departure dates without having to select number of nights from a drop-down menu, as before. - Radio buttons and brand-coloured bars
We have introduced neat and tidy radio buttons for deposit and full payment, with customisable coloured bars. -
Discount codes early on
Guests can now enter a discount code at the start of the booking process, directly within the booking summary box or wait until step 4 and apply it within the form.
-
Earlier guest registration
The guest registration/log-in step now occurs earlier in the process, before the party details are entered. This helps retain lead guest information, such as first name, last name, address, (depending on your field settings). - Booking complete page
We have now created a booking complete page so that when payment has been made the guest will be directed to a booking complete page which will provide an instant summary of their booking, with progress bar and a link to share the holiday with their friends and family. - GA4
The latest Google Analytics integration, to help measure, analyse and gain insight from guest interactions.
FAQs
How does removing website headers and footers improve booking conversion?
The new checkout is designed to maximise booking conversions. Full headers and footers with menus, links and contact details can distract guests or lead them away from completing their booking. By streamlining the design:
-
Guests stay focused on finishing their booking (fewer leak-points and drop-offs).
- With fewer links and diversions, your GA4 data becomes cleaner. You’ll know exactly how people interact with the booking form, rather than muddying the picture with click-offs to other parts of your site.
-
Pages load faster, especially on mobile (even small delays increase abandonment rates).
- On smaller screens, headers and footers take up valuable space and push the booking form content down.
- A simplified, mobile-first design means less scrolling and less clutter, making it faster and easier to complete.
- Guests recognise they’re booking with you, but they’re guided through a clean, professional flow that feels trustworthy and intentional.
-
The booking experience is in line with industry best practice (e.g. Airbnb, Booking.com).
-
You still control the look and feel - logo, colours, fonts - directly in Anytime, without needing developer work.
In short: less clutter, more bookings.
How do I see what my new booking form will look like?
You can preview your new booking form before you make it live. Go to the configuration area in the booking management software ("BMS") and find "Guest Checkout". On any of the checkout configuration tabs, you will see a "Preview booking form" button.
How can I preview my booking complete page?
Similar to above, you can preview the booking complete page message by going to the configuration area of the BMS and opening up "Guest Checkout", and from there go to the "Booking Complete" tab at the end. At the bottom of that page is a button "Preview booking complete" which then shows you the booking complete page for the most recent booking made (note: the system will reference the last booking made and paid for in the last 7 days).
Why isn’t there a back button in the new checkout?
The new checkout uses a step-by-step “accordion” design, which lets guests move freely between stages without needing a separate back button.
At any point, a guest can simply click on a previous stage to go back and make changes by clicking "Edit". This keeps the process simple, clean, and faster to use - especially on mobile - while still giving guests full control over their booking.
