How to add a Cookie Consent Banner to your checkout

To help you manage cookie consent, analytics and tracking on your booking journey, Anytime Booking allows you to display a cookie consent banner on your hosted checkout.

The banner gives guests information about cookies and allows them to make a choice about whether they wish to accept tracking cookies.

How to Switch On the Cookie Consent Banner

1. Log in to your BMS.
2. Go to Your Account.
3. Locate the Cookie Consent settings.
4. Switch the consent banner On.
5. Save your changes.

Once enabled, the cookie consent banner will automatically be displayed on your Anytime Booking checkout.

How Cookie Consent Works

The consent banner allows guests to make a choice about tracking cookies before they are used.

This is particularly important if you have third-party tracking or analytics tools connected to your checkout, such as:

• Google Analytics
• Google Tag Manager
• Meta Pixel
• Other advertising or marketing tracking

Where applicable, tracking should only be activated in accordance with the guest's consent choice.

For example, if a guest does not consent to advertising cookies, advertising-related tracking should not be triggered on the checkout.

Why Is Cookie Consent Important?

Cookies and similar technologies can be used for different purposes. Some may be required for the checkout to function, while others are used for analytics, advertising or marketing.

The consent requirements can depend on:

• What cookies and tracking technologies you use
• The purpose of each cookie
• Where your guests are located
• Which third-party services you have connected to your website and checkout

You should therefore make sure your cookie notice and privacy information accurately describe the technologies being used on your booking journey.

Your Website and Checkout

If your website sends guests to an Anytime Booking hosted checkout, remember that the checkout may be hosted on a different domain.

For example:

Your website → Anytime Booking checkout → Booking confirmation

Guests may therefore encounter the consent banner on the checkout itself when the banner is enabled.

It is also important to make sure that your website's cookie policy and privacy policy accurately explain how you use cookies, analytics and advertising technologies across the booking journey.

Important: Consent Does Not Automatically Configure Your Tracking

Enabling the cookie consent banner provides the mechanism for guests to give their consent, but it does not automatically configure third-party tracking services such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or Meta Pixel.

If you have tracking configured through Google Tag Manager, for example, your tags should be configured to respect the relevant consent signals before firing.

You should also check your tracking setup after enabling the banner to ensure that:

• Required functionality continues to work.
• Analytics tags behave according to the guest's consent.
• Advertising and marketing tags do not fire where the guest has not provided the required consent.
• Conversion/purchase tracking continues to work when the appropriate consent has been provided.

Reviewing Your Consent Setup

After enabling the banner, we recommend testing the checkout as a guest and checking the behaviour of your tracking tools.

You should test both scenarios:

Guest accepts tracking cookies

• The relevant analytics/advertising tracking should be permitted according to your configuration.

Guest declines tracking cookies

• Non-essential tracking should not be activated where consent is required.

If you use a third-party tracking provider or advertising platform, you may also need to configure the relevant consent settings within that platform.

A note about compliance

The cookie consent banner is a tool to help you manage guest consent, but it does not by itself guarantee compliance with applicable privacy or cookie laws.

You are responsible for ensuring that the cookies and tracking technologies used on your website and checkout are appropriately disclosed and configured for your circumstances.
