FAQ on the benefits

  1. Can I add any free electricity credit to CampaVolt (a grace period)?
    Yes, you can. When campers show up with credit on their meter, it can bring a better experience for the camper, better reviews for you and means you can be more hands-off.
  2. How do we handle refunds?
    CampaVolt meters automatically refund remaining credit on departure. Not having to manually process refunds for any remaining meter credit saves you time. 
  3. Is each CampaVolt connection on my campsite secure?
    The integration with Anytime locks the individual meter to the booking reference number of the camper. This stops the chance of credit theft, whether accidental or otherwise. For example, if a campervan leaves a pitch for the day, the pitch credit can't be used by someone else. This stops disputes between campers and reduces the time campsite owners may need to spend on resolving issues.
  4. Why is the collection of the camper's mobile number via Anytime beneficial?
    By retrieving the camper's mobile number from their booking, the meter sends text messages with a link to the top-up page when the credit gets to less than 50p. This improves the camper experience e.g. they may be in the pub or on a walk when they run out of credit. They might have something important in the freezer that would spoil if it were thawed. They can top-up from anywhere, on the move. Again, this gives the camper a better experience.
  5. How else might the camper benefit?
    The costs are transparent, making the camper more aware of their electricity usage and more mindful of their electricity use. Next time they turn their heater on in their awning, they may have a rethink.

FAQ on the integration

  1. What is the purpose of the Activation Time?
    The Activation Time you set in Anytime is an automated process that checks in all scheduled arrivals for the day in your Account.
  2. What happens if a guest arrives before this automated time?
    If a guest arrives before this automated time, you’ll need to manually mark them as 'Checked In' via your Anytime dashboard or Manage Booking list. This will activate the connection within the next 15-minute cycle to Campavolt.
  3. What happens if I need to make changes to the guest stay?
    If you need to change the pitch or adjust the check-out date after the automated check-in has occurred, go ahead with the update and inform your guest that electricity will be available within 15 minutes.
  4. What happens if a guest arrives after the Activation Time?
    If a guest books and arrives after your Activation Time then this will automatically Check the guest in and electricity will be available within 15 minutes.
  5. What happens if a guest books after 11pm on day of arrival?
    If a guest books after 11 PM on the day of arrival, you will need to manually check them in, then wait 15 mins for their electricity to become available.

Technical Service Level Agreement (SLA)

System Downtime & SLA

Campavolt system runs on an AWS static web server with AWS Lambda functions, ensuring high reliability. Since it's a static website, there is no traditional server that can fail, further reducing the risk of downtime.

In the unlikely event of an issue, please contact Dan directly, and he will respond within 60 minutes. Most issues are resolved within 24 hours.

What Happens If Systems Fail?

If the Campavolt system goes down

Campsite owners can still manually add credit via the Campavolt portal.

Campers can also top-up their electricity using their personal meter's QR code.

Meters are designed to be fail-safe, meaning they will continue providing electricity regardless of credit status. This ensures campers are never left without power, even in the event of a system failure.

If the Anytime system fails to initialise check-in/check-out:

The integration with Anytime is complimentary and not essential for core system functionality.

Even if the integration doesn’t work, the Campavolt system will continue to function as normal.

Campsite owners can still manually adjust credit and monitor usage through the Campavolt portal.
