Connect with Airbnb (API) - Troubleshooting Airbnb Sync Issues

Here are a few points if you're having a few issues.

If your Airbnb calendar, availability or pricing isn't syncing correctly after connecting or assigning your units in Anytime Booking, there are a few common reasons this can happen.

Use the questions below to identify the issue you're experiencing and follow the relevant steps to resolve it.

1. Why are dates showing as blocked on Airbnb?

If dates were manually blocked in Airbnb before you connected the listing to Anytime Booking, these blocks will not automatically be removed when the connection is established.

How to resolve this

  1. Log in to your Anytime Booking account.
  2. Go to Configuration > Airbnb.
  3. Select Settings for the relevant Airbnb listing.
  4. Temporarily change Controlled From to Airbnb.
  5. Log in to your Airbnb account.
  6. Open the relevant calendar and remove any unintended block-offs.
  7. Return to Anytime Booking and change Controlled From back to Anytime Booking.
  8. Your rates and availability will then be re-sent to Airbnb.
  9. Allow a few minutes for the changes to appear and check your Airbnb calendar.

Important: Any dates that you intentionally want to remain blocked in Airbnb should be managed directly in Airbnb.

2. Why aren't my Airbnb dates available for bookings?

Check the minimum night stay and arrival/departure restrictions on your Airbnb listing.

Anytime Booking can send your defined rates and Length of Stay rules to Airbnb, but the Airbnb listing must have a minimum night stay of 1 to allow Anytime Booking to control this setting.

If you have manually added Restrict arrival or Restrict departure rules in Airbnb, these can also override the availability and booking rules that Anytime Booking attempts to send.

How to resolve this

In Airbnb, check the listing's:

  • Minimum night stay — this should be set to 1 night.
  • Restrict arrival settings — remove any restrictions that you do not want to apply.
  • Restrict departure settings — remove any restrictions that you do not want to apply.

You may have to change the connection to Controlled by Airbnb to make these checks. Once these have been changed, change the control back to Anytime and allow time for the updated settings to synchronise.

Important: Restrictions set directly in Airbnb can override the availability and booking rules sent from Anytime Booking. If you want Anytime Booking to control these settings, make sure they are not being restricted within Airbnb.

3. How can I keep dates blocked on Airbnb but available in Anytime Booking?

If you need to block specific dates on Airbnb while keeping those dates available for direct bookings through Anytime Booking, the block-off needs to be managed directly in Airbnb.

Alternatively, you can control how far ahead Airbnb accepts bookings using the Airbnb open booking period.

For example, you can set the Airbnb booking window to 3, 6, 9 or 12 months ahead. Dates beyond the selected period will not be available for Airbnb bookings.

4. Why aren't my Anytime Booking discounts showing on Airbnb?

Discounts created in Anytime Booking, such as Last Minute or Early Bird, are not sent to Airbnb.

If you want to offer these discounts on Airbnb, they need to be configured using Airbnb's own discount tools.

Airbnb discounts

You can configure supported discounts such as:

  • Early Bird
  • Last Minute

Note: Promotions created in Anytime Booking are not sent to Airbnb.

5. Why does my Airbnb listing say "Controlled by Airbnb"?

Anytime Booking can only control Airbnb listings where the connected Airbnb account is the listing owner and primary host.

If the connected account is only a co-host, Anytime Booking cannot control the listing.

How to resolve this

Check that the Airbnb account connected to Anytime Booking is the account that owns and primarily hosts the relevant listing. We suggest using ical to connect to a co-hosted listing or set up a new listing in the connected account.

If you believe the account is correctly connected but the listing still shows as Controlled by Airbnb, please contact Support.

6. Could a previous software connection be causing the problem?

If the Airbnb listing was previously connected to another channel manager or property management system, the previous connection may interfere with the new Anytime Booking connection.

How to remove a previous connection

  1. Log in to your Airbnb account.
  2. Go to Account Settings > Privacy & Sharing.
  3. Find Connected Apps.
  4. Locate the previous software provider.
  5. Select Remove Access.

Once the previous connection has been removed, you can reconnect the listing to Anytime Booking.

7. I've been asked to reconnect my Airbnb account — what do I need to do?

If Support has asked you to reconnect your Airbnb integration, follow these steps:

  1. Open Anytime Booking and Airbnb in separate browser tabs.
  2. Start the Airbnb re-authorisation process in Anytime Booking.
  3. Complete the authorisation in Airbnb.
  4. Once the connection has been successfully re-established, check that all required units are correctly assigned.
  5. Allow time for the synchronisation to complete.
  6. Check your Airbnb listings to confirm that pricing and availability are displaying correctly.

Important: If you have a large number of listings or units to assign, the synchronisation may take longer. Please allow sufficient time for the updates to reach Airbnb before making further changes.

Bookings after reconnecting

If any bookings have failed to transfer during the period when the connection was unavailable, these need to be manually added to Anytime Booking.

When adding a failed Airbnb booking, make sure you include the Airbnb booking reference.

8. I've made changes but Airbnb still isn't updating

Before contacting Support, check the following:

  • The correct Airbnb listing is assigned to the correct Anytime Booking unit.
  • Controlled From is set to Anytime Booking.
  • The Airbnb minimum night stay is set to 1.
  • There are no unintended manual block-offs in the Airbnb calendar.
  • Any previous channel manager connections have been removed.
  • You have allowed sufficient time for the synchronisation to complete.
  • You are checking the correct Airbnb listing.

If you've completed these checks and your Airbnb calendar, availability or pricing is still not updating correctly, please contact the Anytime Booking Support Team.

When contacting Support, please provide the affected unit/listing and, where possible, the specific dates that are not displaying correctly. This will help us investigate the issue more quickly.
